New Words!

I'm excited! I've learned a few new words in Norfuk. And they are somewhat like the Jamaican Creole! So, it'll be easier for me to learn!

Wataweih? - Hello (Wataweih in Jamaican Creole is like expressing and asking (with emphasis, how things are done. Example: What-a-weih you're eating vegetable. Literally, Why are you eating vegetables, and I thought you didn't like it?)

PIH irregular spellings

Today I spent several hours exploring pages and categories here. I made some progress in learning how to spell PIH from existing examples, but still found inconsistencies. For example: the page Jiiografii with double-"i" twice, but the stub name {{Jio-stub}} using the {{Template:Jio-stub}} to categorize pages in the {{Category:Jiiografii Stub}} - and in 2009 an IP user created the Category:Geography which is already in use. (N.B. - I have a lot of editing experience moving categories so I'll take care of the latter soon.) I'm supposing the best examples of PIH spelling are on the Mien Paij. Otherwise I have some ideas for the future, but those will have to wait till I catch up on other projects. -- Deborahjay (talk) 13:31, 10 Mieh 2018 (UTC)

You got that right on the first try! That's what my brothers and husband call me, so you're welcome to, too. For the record - when I started editing Wikipedia 12 years ago I was working for a Holocaust historical archives in Israel. Rather than coming up with an alias-type User name, I chose a version of my real-life name to show that I stand by what I write. I also had a banner on my main User page stating that my contributions might not necessarily reflect my employer's opinions though I "hoped they weren't incompatible" with the latter. My WP efforts are sincere attempts to share information on matters I care about, along with helping newcomers and understaffed projects to the best of my ability - and I hope with this I encourage others to do likewise. -- Cheers, Deborahjay (talk) 13:13, 28 Mieh 2018 (UTC)
